Russian soldier cries while ‘talking to his mum’ after reportedly surrendering in Ukraine
A video purporting to show a young Russian soldier being cared for by Ukrainians after his reported surrender has gone viral.
The young man, dressed in his uniform, is seen drinking tea and eating a pastry as a woman holds a phone in front of him.

As a woman on the other end of the video call begins to speak, the young soldier is seen hanging his head and crying.
Reports suggest the man had been speaking to his mother after being taken in by the Ukrainians.
Before the video call ends, the soldier is seen blowing a kiss towards the phone.
The video has not been verified and it’s unclear where it was filmed.
It comes after Ukraine’s Defence Ministry announced it would be returning captured Russian soldiers to their “miserable” mothers.
The ministry claims “thousands” of soldiers have been captured by Ukraine.
In a statement on Facebook, the ministry issued instructions for how Russian mothers can collect their captured sons.
The ministry provided contact details, saying the women will need to travel to the Russian city of Kaliningrad or the Belarusian city of Minsk, where they can then get a bus or taxi to the Polish border.
“There you will be met and escorted to Kyiv, where your son will be handed over to you,” the ministry said.
“We, Ukrainians, unlike Putin’s fascists, do not fight mothers and their captive children.
“We are waiting for you in Kyiv.”
